Making Uzvar

  1. 1In a large pot, combine the dried cranberries, dried apple pieces, and water.
  2. 2Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 25-30 minutes, or until the fruits are tender.
  3. 3Stir in the apple cider, honey, cinnamon stick, and cloves (if using). Continue to simmer for another 5 minutes.
  4. 4Remove the pot from the heat. Let the uzvar steep for at least 10-15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  5. 5Strain the uzvar through a fine-mesh sieve into a clean pitcher or bowl, discarding the solids. You can gently press the fruits to extract more liquid.
