Instructions

Prepare Noodles and Tempeh

  1. 1Cook noodles according to package directions. Drain well and set aside. If using dried noodles, toss with 1 tsp of oil to prevent sticking.
  2. 2Heat 1 tbsp of vegetable oil in a large wok or skillet over medium-high heat. Add tempeh cubes and pan-fry until golden brown and slightly crispy on all sides. Remove from wok and set aside.

Stir-fry Aromatics and Vegetables

  1. 1Add the remaining 2 tbsp of vegetable oil to the same wok over medium-high heat. Add minced garlic, sliced shallots, and sliced chili. Stir-fry for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  2. 2Add shredded cabbage and julienned carrots to the wok. Stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp.

Combine and Finish

  1. 1Add the cooked noodles, fried tempeh, kecap manis, soy sauce, salt, and black pepper to the wok. Toss everything well to coat the noodles and vegetables evenly in the sauce.
  2. 2Add bean sprouts and stir-fry for another minute until they are slightly wilted but still retain some crunch.
  3. 3Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary. Serve hot, garnished with fresh cilantro.
