Ingredients

Main

  • 1 pc yellow cake mix(15.25 ounce package)
  • 1 cup water
  • 3 pcs eggs(large)
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup water(cold)
  • 1 pc strawberry gelatin mix(85g package (such as Jell-O))
  • 1 cup water(boiling)
  • 1 pc whipped topping(8 ounce container (such as Cool Whip))

Instructions

Main

  1. Gather ingredients, preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C), and grease a 9x13-inch baking pan.
  2. Combine cake mix, 1 cup water, eggs, and vegetable oil in a large bowl; beat on low until moistened, then beat on medium for 2 minutes; pour batter into prepared pan.
  3. Bake 24 to 29 minutes until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean; let cool completely, at least 30 minutes.
  4. Put 1/4 cup cold water in a bowl, sprinkle gelatin over top and let soften about 1 minute; add 1 cup boiling water and stir until dissolved.
  5. Poke holes all over the cooled cake with a skewer or fork; pour dissolved gelatin evenly into the holes and refrigerate until set, about 1 to 6 hours.
  6. Spread whipped topping over the chilled, set cake.
  7. Slice and serve.

Tips

  • Use a wooden skewer to poke holes evenly about 1 inch apart for a swirly, tie-dyed effect.
  • Chill the cake at least 1 hour, preferably 4–6 hours or overnight, for best gelatin set and flavor m
  • Top with fresh berries or sprinkles, or use different gelatin flavors to match holidays or themes.
