Ingredients
- 2lb potatoes(peeled and thinly sliced)
- 2 pcs onion(thinly sliced)
- 2oz capers(drained)
- 2 tbsp miso paste(white or yellow)
- 25 3/8 fl oz heavy cream
- 2 tbsp butter(melted, for greasing and topping)
- 2 tbsp bread crumbs
- black pepper(freshly ground, to taste)
- salt(to taste)
Instructions
Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F). Grease a gratin or casserole dish generously with butter.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the miso paste with a few tablespoons of the heavy cream until smooth. Then whisk in the remaining cream.
- Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the prepared dish. Sprinkle evenly with half of the sliced onions and half of the drained capers. Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper.
- Pour half of the miso- cream mixture over the first layer.
- Repeat the layering with the remaining potatoes, onions, and capers. Season again and pour the rest of the miso-cream mixture over the top.
- Drizzle the melted butter over the casserole and sprinkle with bread crumbs for a golden crust.
Cooking
- Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the top is golden brown and bubbly.
- If the top starts to brown too quickly, you can loosely cover the dish with aluminum foil.
