Ingredients

  • 4oz dark chocolate(finely chopped, 70% cacao)
  • 16 7/8 fl oz whole milk
  • 1 tsp orange zest
  • 1 pc cinnamon stick
  • 2 pcs cloves(whole)
  • 2 tbsp sugar(or to taste)

Instructions

Preparation

  1. Combine milk, orange zest, cinnamon stick, and whole cloves in a medium saucepan.
  2. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the mixture is just simmering. Do not boil.
  3. Remove the saucepan from the heat, cover, and let the spices infuse for 5-7 minutes.

Finishing

  1. Strain the milk mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a clean saucepan to remove the spices and orange zest.
  2. Add the finely chopped dark chocolate and sugar to the strained milk. Return to low heat.
  3. Whisk continuously until the chocolate is completely melted and the mixture is smooth and frothy. Be careful not to let it boil.
  4. Taste and adjust sugar if needed.
  5. Pour the spiced orange chocolat chaud into two mugs and serve immediately.
