Ingredients

  • 9oz lasagne pasta(broken into bite-sized pieces)
  • 16oz ground beef
  • 1 pc onion(chopped)
  • 2 tbsp garlic(minced)
  • 28oz crushed tomatoes(canned)
  • 6 3/4 fl oz water
  • 7oz mozzarella cheese(shredded)
  • 9oz ricotta cheese
  • 2oz parmesan cheese(grated)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • salt(to taste)
  • black pepper(to taste)
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp dried oregano

Instructions

Meat Sauce

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat.
  2. Add ground beef and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  4. Stir in crushed tomatoes, water, dried basil, and dried oregano. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Bring the sauce to a simmer, then reduce heat to low, cover, and cook for 10 minutes.

Lasagna Assembly

  1. Add the broken lasagne pasta pieces to the simmering sauce. Stir to combine.
  2. Increase heat to medium, bring to a boil, then reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and cook for 15-20 minutes, or until pasta is al dente, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
  3. Remove the skillet from the heat. Dollop spoonfuls of ricotta cheese over the pasta mixture.
  4. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella and grated parmesan cheese evenly over the top.
  5. Cover the skillet again and let it sit for 5 minutes to allow the cheese to melt.
