Instructions

Meat Sauce

  1. 1Heat olive oil in a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat.
  2. 2Add ground beef and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned. Drain excess fat.
  3. 3Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  4. 4Stir in crushed tomatoes, water, dried basil, and dried oregano. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. 5Bring the sauce to a simmer, then reduce heat to low, cover, and cook for 10 minutes.

Lasagna Assembly

  1. 1Add the broken lasagne pasta pieces to the simmering sauce. Stir to combine.
  2. 2Increase heat to medium, bring to a boil, then reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and cook for 15-20 minutes, or until pasta is al dente, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
  3. 3Remove the skillet from the heat. Dollop spoonfuls of ricotta cheese over the pasta mixture.
  4. 4Sprinkle shredded mozzarella and grated parmesan cheese evenly over the top.
  5. 5Cover the skillet again and let it sit for 5 minutes to allow the cheese to melt.

Tips

  • Break lasagna noodles into uniform sizes for even cooking in the skillet.
  • Ensure there's enough liquid for the pasta to cook properly; add a splash more water if needed.
  • Garnish with fresh basil leaves for a burst of color and flavor.
