Ingredients

  • 1 pc pizza dough(prepped Neapolitan style)
  • 1/2 cup san marzano tomatoes(crushed)
  • 4oz mozzarella(fresh, torn or sliced)
  • 5 pcs fresh basil(leaves)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil(extra virgin, for drizzling)
  • salt(to taste)

Instructions

Grilling

  1. Preheat your grill to high heat (around 500°F/260°C). If using a pizza stone or steel on the grill, preheat it as well.
  2. Lightly flour a pizza peel or a sheet of parchment paper. Stretch the pizza dough to about 12 inches in diameter. If using parchment, place the dough on it.
  3. Spread the crushed San Marzano tomatoes evenly over the pizza dough, leaving a small border for the crust.
  4. Add the torn mozzarella pieces over the tomato sauce.
  5. Carefully slide the pizza onto the preheated grill grates or directly onto the hot pizza stone/steel. If using parchment paper, slide it with the dough onto the grill (you can remove the parchment partway through cooking if needed for better char).
  6. Close the grill lid and cook for 3-5 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and charred, and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  7. Carefully remove the pizza from the grill using the peel or tongs.
  8. Drizzle with olive oil and scatter fresh basil leaves over the hot pizza. Season with salt if desired.
  9. Slice and serve immediately.
