Ingredients

  • 2oz dried apple rings(broken into smaller pieces)
  • 2 1/8 qt water
  • 8 3/7 fl oz apple cider
  • 3 tbsp honey(or to taste)
  • 1 pc cinnamon stick(optional)
  • 2 pcs cloves(optional)

Instructions

Making Uzvar

  1. In a large pot, combine the dried cranberries, dried apple pieces, and water.
  2. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 25-30 minutes, or until the fruits are tender.
  3. Stir in the apple cider, honey, cinnamon stick, and cloves (if using). Continue to simmer for another 5 minutes.
  4. Remove the pot from the heat. Let the uzvar steep for at least 10-15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  5. Strain the uzvar through a fine-mesh sieve into a clean pitcher or bowl, discarding the solids. You can gently press the fruits to extract more liquid.
