Mocha Chai Cold Brew

Mocha Chai Cold Brew

Embark on a flavor journey with this exquisite Mocha Chai Cold Brew, a beverage that seamlessly marries the rich heritage of coffee with the ancient, aromatic allure of chai. Originating from the slow-steeping tradition of cold brew coffee, a technique dating back to 17th-century Japan, this drink offers a remarkably smooth and less acidic coffee experience. We then infuse it with an authentic chai spice blend, echoing the centuries-old Indian tradition of masala chai, a fragrant brew celebrated for its warming spices like cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, and invigorating ginger. The decadence continues with a swirl of dark chocolate syrup, a nod to the beloved mocha, which traces its roots to Yemen. This handcrafted cold brew is sweetened with natural maple syrup, adding a layer of nuanced sweetness. Served over gleaming crushed ice and crowned with a luxurious dollop of coconut whipped cream, it’s not just a drink; it’s an invitation to savor a complex tapestry of bold coffee, comforting spices, and rich chocolate. Perfect for a morning pick-me-up or an afternoon treat, this Mocha Chai Cold Brew is a sophisticated and invigorating beverage that elevates your daily ritual. Instructions

Prepare Cold Brew Base

  1. 1Combine the coarsely ground coffee beans and cold, filtered water in a large pitcher or jar. Stir gently to ensure all coffee grounds are saturated.
  2. 2Add the chai spice blend directly into the coffee and water mixture. Stir again to distribute the spices evenly.
  3. 3Cover the container and refrigerate for at least 12-15 hours, or up to 24 hours, to allow the cold brew to steep slowly and infuse with the chai spices.

Assemble the Mocha Chai Cold Brew

  1. 1After steeping, strain the cold brew mixture through a fine-mesh sieve lined with cheesecloth or a clean coffee filter into a clean pitcher or jar. Discard the coffee grounds and spices.
  2. 2To serve, drizzle dark chocolate syrup around the inside of two tall glasses. Add crushed ice to each glass.
  3. 3Pour approximately 1 cup of the mocha chai cold brew concentrate into each glass. Add 0.5 cup of milk to each, adjusting to your preference for creaminess.
  4. 4Stir in 0.5 to 1 tablespoon of maple syrup per glass, or to your desired sweetness level. Taste and adjust sweetness as needed.
  5. 5Top with a generous dollop of coconut whipped cream, if using, and sprinkle with a dash of cinnamon for garnish.
  6. 6Serve immediately and enjoy the complex layers of flavor in your Mocha Chai Cold Brew.
