Garlic Pampushky with Fresh Dill

Ingredients

Dough

  • 1 cup warm water(about 105°F (40°C))
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast(1 packet)
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 3 cup all-purpose flour(plus more for dusting)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil

Garlic Topping

  • 5 pcs garlic(minced)
  • 3 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup fresh dill(chopped)

Instructions

Make the Dough

  1. In a small bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour and salt. Make a well in the center.
  3. Pour the yeast mixture and vegetable oil into the well. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.
  4. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

Shape and Bake

  1. Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball.
  2. Arrange the dough balls in a greased 9x13 inch baking pan, leaving a little space between them.
  3. Cover the pan and let the pampushky rest for another 15-20 minutes.
  4. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  5. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.

Prepare Garlic Topping

  1. While pampushky are baking, combine minced garlic, vegetable oil, water, and salt in a small bowl.
  2. Stir well to combine.

Finish and Serve

  1. As soon as the pampushky come out of the oven, brush them generously with the garlic mixture.
  2. Sprinkle with fresh chopped dill.
  3. Serve warm.
