Instructions

Make the Dough

  1. 1In a small bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  2. 2In a large bowl, whisk together flour and salt. Make a well in the center.
  3. 3Pour the yeast mixture and vegetable oil into the well. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.
  4. 4Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. 5Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

Shape and Bake

  1. 1Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball.
  2. 2Arrange the dough balls in a greased 9x13 inch baking pan, leaving a little space between them.
  3. 3Cover the pan and let the pampushky rest for another 15-20 minutes.
  4. 4Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  5. 5Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.

Prepare Garlic Topping

  1. 1While pampushky are baking, combine minced garlic, vegetable oil, water, and salt in a small bowl.
  2. 2Stir well to combine.

Finish and Serve

  1. 1As soon as the pampushky come out of the oven, brush them generously with the garlic mixture.
  2. 2Sprinkle with fresh chopped dill.
  3. 3Serve warm.
