Dough
- 1 cup warm water(about 105°F (40°C))
- 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast(1 packet)
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 3 cup all-purpose flour(plus more for dusting)
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
Garlic Topping
- 5 pcs garlic(minced)
- 3 tbsp vegetable oil
- 2 tbsp water
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 cup fresh dill(chopped)
Instructions
Make the Dough
- In a small bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour and salt. Make a well in the center.
- Pour the yeast mixture and vegetable oil into the well. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
Shape and Bake
- Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball.
- Arrange the dough balls in a greased 9x13 inch baking pan, leaving a little space between them.
- Cover the pan and let the pampushky rest for another 15-20 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
Prepare Garlic Topping
- While pampushky are baking, combine minced garlic, vegetable oil, water, and salt in a small bowl.
- Stir well to combine.
Finish and Serve
- As soon as the pampushky come out of the oven, brush them generously with the garlic mixture.
- Sprinkle with fresh chopped dill.
- Serve warm.
