Ingredients

  • 4oz dark chocolate(high quality, 70% cocoa solids, finely chopped)
  • 8 3/7 fl oz whole milk
  • 4 1/4 fl oz heavy cream
  • 1 tbsp sugar(or to taste)
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

  1. Finely chop the dark chocolate and set it aside in a heatproof bowl or large mug.

Cooking

  1. In a small saucepan, combine the whole milk, heavy cream, and sugar. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the mixture is hot and just beginning to simmer around the edges (do not boil).
  2. Remove the saucepan from the heat, pour the hot milk mixture over the chopped dark chocolate, and let it sit for 1 minute to allow the chocolate to melt.
  3. Add the vanilla extract. Whisk vigorously with a small whisk or fork until the chocolate is completely melted and the hot chocolate is smooth and glossy. Continue whisking until it reaches a thick, velvety consistency.

Serving

  1. Pour the Classic Parisien Chocolat Chaud into two small cups and serve immediately.
