Ingredients

  • 4 pcs chicken thighs(boneless, skinless)
  • 6 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp char siu sauce
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp honey or brown sugar(for glaze)
  • 2 tsp garlic(minced)
  • 1 tsp ginger(grated)
  • 1 tsp rice wine vinegar

Instructions

Marinate Chicken

  1. In a bowl, whisk together hoisin sauce, soy sauce, char siu sauce, sesame oil, honey (or brown sugar), minced garlic, grated ginger, and rice wine vinegar to create the marinade.
  2. Add the chicken thighs to the marinade, ensuring each piece is well-coated. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 4 hours for deeper flavor.

Cook Chicken

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) or prepare your grill for medium-high heat.
  2. Remove chicken from the marinade, letting excess drip off. Discard the remaining marinade.
  3. Place chicken thighs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or on the preheated grill. Cook for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the chicken is cooked through and the glaze is caramelized and slightly charred.
  4. For an extra glossy glaze, you can brush the chicken with additional Char Siu sauce or honey during the last 5 minutes of cooking.

Tips

  • Marinating longer will infuse more flavor into the chicken, but be mindful of the soy sauce affecting texture if left too long.
  • Keep an eye on the chicken during the last few minutes of cooking to prevent the glaze from burning.
  • Serve hot with steamed rice, stir-fried vegetables, or your favorite Chinese side dishes for a complete meal.
