Instructions

Prepare Filling & Pastry

  1. 1Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. 2In a medium bowl, beat softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and egg yolk until smooth and creamy. Set aside.
  3. 3Unroll each sheet of puff pastry onto a lightly floured surface. Cut each sheet into 6 equal squares, for a total of 12 squares.
  4. 4Lightly score a ½-inch border inside each pastry square with a knife, being careful not to cut all the way through.

Assemble Danish

  1. 1Spoon a dollop of cream cheese filling into the center of each pastry square within the scored border.
  2. 2Top the cream cheese filling with a spoonful of lemon curd, then scatter fresh blueberries on top of the curd.
  3. 3In a small bowl, whisk the egg with water for the egg wash. Brush the edges of the pastry squares with the egg wash.

Bake & Glaze

  1. 1Transfer the danishes to the prepared baking sheets.
  2. 2Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the pastry is puffed and golden brown.
  3. 3While danishes cool, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and lemon juice in a small bowl until a smooth glaze forms.
  4. 4Drizzle the glaze over the cooled danishes before serving.

Tips

  • Keep puff pastry chilled until ready to use; this helps maintain its flakiness and prevents sticking during shaping.
  • Ensure your oven is fully preheated. A hot oven helps the puff pastry rise quickly for a light, airy texture.
  • These danishes are best enjoyed the day they are baked for optimal freshness and crispness.
