Ingredients
French Toast Bake
- 6 pcs stale croissants(medium-sized, day-old, torn into large pieces)
- 4 pcs large eggs
- 1 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp almond extract
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp unsalted butter(melted, for greasing)
Almond Topping & Glaze
- 1/2 cup slivered almonds
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tbsp milk(or water)
- 1/4 tsp almond extract
Instructions
Prepare the Bake
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with melted butter.
- Arrange the torn croissant pieces evenly in the prepared baking dish.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, granulated sugar, almond extract, vanilla extract, and salt until well combined.
- Pour the egg mixture over the croissants, ensuring all pieces are thoroughly soaked. Gently press down on the croissants if needed to help them absorb the liquid. Let sit for 5-10 minutes.
Bake and Finish
- Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the custard is set. A knife inserted into the center should come out clean.
- While the bake is still warm, prepare the glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk (or water), and almond extract until smooth.
- Drizzle the almond glaze generously over the warm French toast bake. Sprinkle with slivered almonds.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
